The Appetite Control Button
In the United States an estimated 30% of adults over age 20 are overweight. At any given time 40% of women and 24% of men in the United States are trying to lose weight, spending an excess of 30 billion dollars a year on weight loss products, and programs. Despite, these efforts and expenditures, less than 5% of those waging the war on weight are successful in achieving long-term weight loss. In fact, in the last decade there has been an estimated 30% increase in the number of seriously overweight Americans, the greatest increase in history.
Many overweight Americans are living a sub-optimal lifestyle suffering from chronic and often fatal obesity related diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, gall bladder conditions, osteoarthritis and various forms of cancer, including colon, lymphatic, and breast cancer. In fact, approximately 300,000 deaths per year are attributed to obesity related diseases, costing the American health care system 40 to 100 billion dollars annually. Despite this seemingly discouraging statistic, medical studies show that a minimal weight loss of 10% can radically reduce the onset of obesity related diseases. With just a little help Americans can lose weight, lower their risk for obesity related diseases, and live an active, energetic, healthy lifestyle.
The Appetite Control Button is a revolutionary new aroma therapy solution to the weight loss dilemma. The Appetite Control Button is a natural, safe product that works with the body to help control hunger and reduce overall caloric intake. The reduction in caloric intake, results in a healthy sustained weight loss without excessive sacrifice or hunger.
The Appetite Control Button works by delivering a specially formulated combination of scents in the absence of actual food. The inhalation of these scents simulates the consumption of food, resulting in a feeling of fullness or satisfaction. When you inhale, millions of scent molecules enter the nose through the olfactory receptors, travel via the limbic system all the way to the hypothalamus, or the control center of the brain. Among other functions, the hypothalamus is the portion of the brain that relays a feeling of satiety or fullness to the stomach. It is in the hypothalamus that the Appetite Control Button exerts its scientific magic, tricking the rest of the body into believing that it is satisfied, and that further food intake is not required.
The neurological link between the sense of smell and the activation of the satiety center in the hypothalamus has been firmly established by medical studies. One study conducted by neurologist Alan Hirsch, M.D. at the University of Illinois Medical School in Chicago, tested the possibility of weight reduction through the inhalation of odorants. The doctors studied 3,193 overweight volunteers, between the ages of 18 and 64 years of age. The subjects were given inhalers containing various blends of aromatic ingredients, and instructed to inhale the scents three times in each nostril whenever they felt hungry. Furthermore, the participants were told not to deviate from their normal eating and exercise habits during the period of the study. The doctor's observed the participants over a period of 6 months, weighing the participants and providing new inhalers on a monthly basis. The study concluded that participants with a good sense of smell lost an average of 5 pounds per month. Dr. Hirch concluded that "There's a direct connection between the olfactory bulb in the nose and the satiety center in the brain. Odor may fool that center into thinking you've already eaten." Dr. Hirch's findings were presented at the Seventh International Congress on Obesity.
Another recent study on stimulation in appetite suppression and weight loss, performed at the Human Neuro-Sensory Laboratory in Washington, DC, confirmed Doctor Hirsch's findings. Doctors Mayer, Davidson and Hensley tested the theory that inhalation of specially formulated, positive hedonic scents can help regulate appetite and contribute to satiety. In the study 80 subjects were given either an inhalation device containing a special combination of scents or a placebo inhalation device. The participants were instructed to inhale the scents three times, for three repeating cycles 5-6 minutes before and after eating. The participants were also told to inhale the scents when they had cravings, or felt the urge to eat. Over a period of six months, subjects using the inhalers containing the specially formulated scents lost an average of 19 pounds. The subjects using the placebo inhaler lost an average of 4 pounds. This study proves in a randomized, double blind fashion, that the inhalation of specially formulated scents is effective in appetite control, reduction of food cravings, and weight loss, without any conscious change in dieting or exercising.
The doctors concluded that the inhalation of the specially formulated scents triggered the satiety center of the brain, without the actual consumption of food. They discovered that the sense of smell enables the brain to determine that it is full, by translating the amount of smell that is absorbed though the olfactory mechanism into a proportional amount to food one has presumably eaten before any digestion has taken place. Thus, the inhalation of the formulated scents, without actually eating, triggers satiety, kills food cravings, and decreases overall appetite, "by fooling the brain into thinking that one has eaten a proportional amount of food." This process turns off hunger, helps the user to stop eating sooner and controls the amount of food consumed.
After years of research and development consistent with the above studies, makers of the Appetite Control Button developed an inexpensive but effective weight control device, the Appetite Control Button. The Appetite Control Button is created through a unique process where essential oils are isolated, combined, and absorbed into a plastic disc. The result of this process is a vapor timed release system which enables the specially formulated scent to be disbursed over a two week period. The Appetite Control Button is automatically activated when it is removed from its sealed package, and is effective for approximately two weeks. The user simply pins the button 12 inches from the nose, and inhales the pleasant aroma.
